The Suffolk County Real Property Tax Service Agency has redrawn the county tax maps for the land at Conscience Point, showing two separate lots, one owned by Southampton Town, the other by the Southampton Colonial Society, the parent organization of the Southampton History Museum. An attorney for the museum says the change was made unilaterally at the town's behest and without consulting the museum's representatives, amounting to a taking of property that should be considered illegal.
